Lyft recently announced the opening of their new Driver Centers – where they are now offering everything from oil changes and tire rotations to complete diagnostics and collision repair to their driver community!

Lyft is opening Driver Centers across Chicago and is looking to hire Automotive Service Technicians. The Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC) is sharing this information with the hispanic business community in Illinois.

Lyft Driver Centers help to lower the costs of ridesharing by delivering affordable prices on the most frequently needed vehicle services – everything from oil changes and tire rotations to complete diagnostics and collision repair.

They’re taking a new approach to vehicle service that’s faster than traditional repair shops. Ultimately, Driver Centers will help drivers reduce their repair and maintenance expenses and getting them back on the road faster.

Services offered at Driver Centers:

Collision Repair: Handles claims where Express Drive or personal vehicles have been damaged, one stop shop for all body repair to quickly get our vehicles and drivers back on the road.

Service and Maintenance: Repairs + Manufacturer Recommended Maintenance

       ▪     Oil change, air filter

       ▪     Wiper blade change

       ▪     Tire rotation and replacement

       ▪     Brakes and rotors

       ▪     Transmission flush

       ▪     Diagnostics (Check Engine, Noise, Vibration, Harshness)

How You Can Partner with Lyft Driver Centers

Lyft are looking for technicians at all levels as they continue to launch sites in Chicago! They are building a Service Network like none other, that will grow exponentially. The company is also committed to providing job opportunities.

The Roles Available

Lyft are providing qualified individuals the opportunity to apply for a variety of roles within our Driver Centers.

Many of these roles are entry-level and will give team members on-the-job training and the opportunity to advance in the careers at Lyft.

Vehicle Service Technician 1 
This person should have a passion for learning, some mechanical knowledge and a growth mindset. As a Service Technician 1, you will perform basic maintenance and service operations such as oil change, vehicle inspection, tire rotation & replacement, wheel alignment, engine and cabin air filter replacement. Industry experience is a nice to have but not required. Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license.

Vehicle Service Technician 2 
Must have 2+ years of proven service work experience in the automotive industry, ability to Lift 20lbs and experience performing oil change, tire rotation, repair and replacement, air filter, transmission flush, brake fluid. This person should have a problem-solving mindset, collaborate well with others and be a team player. This is the person who act as the highest quality vehicle maintenance and light service technician, perform routine automotive maintenance, such as oil change, vehicle inspection, tire rotation & replacement, wheel alignment, engine and cabin air filter replacement, and brake & rotor replacement. Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record and be insurable under Lyft’s policy.

Vehicle Service Technician 3 
This person should have at least 4+ years of experience working professionally in the field with new vehicle dealer services with hands-on service, maintenance, or collision. This person will Act as the highest quality vehicle maintenance, diagnostic, and service technician perform all diagnostic procedures including driver interactions at intake, support all technicians with diagnostic work as needed and more! OEM, ASE, or ICAR certifications are preferred. If you possess the ability and desire to learn, have an understanding of both what quality is and how to do quality work we want you to join our team! Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license.

Lead Automotive Technician – Master Technician
This person should have a strong background in automotive service including technical repair,  diagnostic  and be comfortable coaching teams. This person will be responsible for the development and successful implementation of standard operating and technical procedures, training our entire service technician team and more! This person must have a deep understanding of automobile repair as well as working to standard procedures and processes. Execute against and lead our technician teams in the achievement of our KPIs and practices. Must have a valid unrestricted driver’s license.

Collision Technician 3 
This person will act as the highest quality body repair technician. Perform assembly and reassembly processes including mechanical and suspension. Responsible for performing and documenting daily equipment inspections and ensuring equipment is ready for use. Ability to lift 20lbs. Must have general knowledge of structural repairs and capable of OBD II Diagnostics. 4+ years of automotive experience with hands-on service, maintenance, or collision.

Collision Technician 4
This person will act as the highest quality structural and body repair technician.

Perform all structural and body repair processes and operations including mechanical and suspension. Responsible for performing and documenting daily equipment inspections and ensuring equipment is ready for use. 6+ years of experience.

Automotive Painter
This person will perform all prep and paint procedures and operations to ensure top quality refinish. Must be capable of refinishing to a level consistent to OEM finish without rework (no buffing, no runs, no dirt). Responsible for performing and documenting daily equipment inspections and ensuring equipment is ready for use.
