The Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC) strongly disagrees with the Supreme Court’s decision to eliminate race as a factor in college admissions. This decision has the potential to affect our future workforce and business community drastically.
It is essential that we, as a society, recognize the immense value of diversity in all aspects of life, especially in the business community. Minorities have historically been underrepresented in higher education and in the business world. This decision places a tremendous strain on the progress made in the past.
We recognize the importance of education and the importance of diversity in the workplace. We recognize the importance of providing opportunities for minorities to own and operate their own businesses. We recognize the importance of all diversity programs and how they contribute to our society.
As an organization, IHCC is committed to supporting the growth of minority-owned enterprises. We are dedicated to providing resources, education, and opportunities to these businesses, and this decision puts our mission in jeopardy.
The IHCC stands firm in its commitment to supporting the growth of minority-owned businesses and ensuring that all members of our community have the opportunity to pursue their dreams. We urge everyone to join us in our efforts to continue fighting for diversity and ensure that all voices are heard.
Sincerely,
IHCC President & CEO, Jaime di Paulo
