Esteban is a business advisor with the Illinois Small Business Development Center at IHCC, with a specialization in accounting and finance. After graduating from DePaul University with a Bachelor’s of Science in Accountancy, Esteban took jobs with small businesses in Chicago organizing their finances and operating controls to be able to analyze performance with intelligent insights. The majority of his career has been small business and nonprofit consulting, with his primary mission being to assist small businesses across Chicago become more competitive.
Esteban Perez was born and raised in Chicago’s Bridgeport and Pilsen neighborhoods. As a son of Mexican immigrants heavily involved in the nonprofit world, he knew he wanted to help people in need from a young age. During his time at DePaul, Esteban was a community organizer in Pilsen for immigration and mass incarceration legislation while participating in many entrepreneurship programs to further understand how to make a difference in today’s world.
In his free time, Esteban likes building computers and is now learning programming by making a video game with a close group of friends. To stay active, he enjoys skateboarding, ultimate frisbee, and teaching his dog how to play soccer.
