Convinced of our key role in the Hispanic business community’s transformation process, the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC) established a new strategic alliance to ensure the extension of e-commerce knowledge to all its members, partners, and clients.

E-commerce is one of the most effective strategies for minority businesses, regardless of their size, to reach more customers.

The IHCC knows from market knowledge that among Hispanic-owned businesses in Illinois, e-commerce is still a very rare practice.

You shouldn’t confuse eCommerce with having a website; it’s about making that site your best seller, working for you 24 hours a day and allowing you to go where you never thought you would go”, said Jaime di Paulo, IHCC’s President & CEO as he formalized the strategic alliance with USBAEC (United States Business Association of E-Commerce).

The IHCC has seen the market’s real need to socialize the advantages that this powerful marketing strategy brings.

The IHCC believes it is increasingly necessary to move towards eCommerce as a mechanism allowing consumers to participate in the production and service processes for companies.

“We have always said: don’t think the postman is only good to bring you the bills you are going to pay. They can also take your merchandise anywhere in Illinois, the country or the world depends where you are willing to go,” added di Paulo.

The USBAEC is a Washington, DC-based organization with a national presence that promotes e-Commerce as the methodology that best contributes to the successful closing of the commercial process of any type of company.

Jaime di Paulo and Tayde Aburto, CEO of USBAEC established this strategic alliance, backed by a 10-year professional relationship in which both have been promoting the development of small businesses in different regions of the country.

Aburto, originally from Morelia, Mexico, has advised companies of different sizes on the development of new business opportunities in the United States for the past 12 years.

Aburto founder of the Hispanic Chamber of eCommerce, since 2008 has grown to become the strongest presence in the market.

His mission focused on bridging the digital divide between Hispanic businesses and the general market.

All IHCC members will have direct access to their courses, seminars, technology, and technical assistance provided by the USBAEC.

eCommerce’s benefits occur when a company uses technology to make its sales and customer service processes more efficient, and cost-effective,” said Aburto.

“There are three characteristics that make eCommerce unique: the use of technology, community’s interactions, and the development of multiple commercial activities of a business”.

Consumers need to feel at ease when they make a transaction, which also forces USBAEC to offer training on safe and reliable technology use.

Hispanic entrepreneurs in Illinois not always considered the maximum utilization of eCommerce channels.

Despite acknowledging they exist, ignorance of transactions via the Internet implies that many of our members avoid their use.

The technical assistance that USBAEC will offer our members will allow them to dispel myths and focus on improving the profitability of their businesses.
