It is an honor and pride for the Illinois Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (IHCC) to announce that our President & CEO, Jaime di Paulo, was distinguished as a member of the prestigious The Economic Club of Chicago, a nationally and internationally recognized organization that brings together the most influential men and women in the economic circle of the third most important city in the United States.

The Economic Club of Chicago’s President and CEO, David Snyder, said he was pleased to report that Jaime di Paulo’s name was submitted to its Board of Directors Executive Committee for a special election. All members of the Committee voted unanimously in the afternoon of September 23rd to elect him.

More than as an individual, I feel this important appointment is a collective award to my entire team and to my IHCC Board of Director’s, with whom we have worked side by side to represent the interests of more than 100,000 Hispanic businesses in Illinois,” said di Paulo.

Jaime acknowledges that he was thrilled to receive the news and remembered his mother’s enormous efforts to provide him with a quality education in Mexico. “Thanks to her I am what I am,” he recalls.

A small number of candidates are invited to join The Economic Club of Chicago each year, which is entered exclusively by nomination and must be approved in a special election. These seats are reserved for company leaders or organizations that play a significant role in Chicago’s business and civic arenas.

Jaime has been honored for his tireless work on behalf of the Hispanic business community, for opening the IHCC’s doors to thousands of small businesses, and for his special work to extend financial aid and technical assistance to the Hispanic businesses most affected by COVID-19.

Its mission, in the future, is to establish new bridges of communication that will allow large companies in Chicago to better value the work capacity and contribution to the development of our Hispanic businesses.

I have dedicated my life to help others and I feel that’s what I want to continue doing. At the IHCC we feel a strong commitment to helping without asking anything in return. Our community and our small businesses deserve it,” added di Paulo, who just two months ago was recognized by the Mexican government as one of the most influential people for the Mexican community in the Midwest.

The Economic Club of Chicago was founded in 1927, and it’s the prime place for world leaders to address the most pressing economic, commercial, and social issues of the day. Most of Chicago’s largest corporations’ CEOs are members, as well as cultural and philanthropic organization leaders.

Recent speakers include Microsoft’s Satya Nadella; NBA Commissioner Adam Silver; singer Bono; Starbucks Director Rosalind Brewer; former President Barack Obama (one of seven U.S. presidents to address the Club in its 93-year history); and Dr. Anthony Fauci.

In October and November, The Economic Club of Chicago will host Blackstone co-founder and CEO Stephen Schwarzman and Nike CEO Joe Donohoe.

The Economic Club of Chicago traditionally holds four meetings with a gala dinner, three business lunches, and an annual social event called “Fifth Night”.

The Economic Club of Chicago is currently offering a series of virtual programs with global opinion leaders to discuss the most relevant issues of the day.
