Neli Vazquez-Rowland, Co-Founder, and her husband Brian established A Safe Haven in 1994 after a personal family experience with alcoholism. Vazquez-Rowland realized there was a tremendous supportive housing need for people recovering from drug and alcohol addiction. Instantaneously she knew A Safe Haven was making a difference in helping people who had lost all hope.
Today, A Safe Haven is the largest recovery home operator in the country having served more than 26,000 people. ASH is a private organization that specializes in housing for individuals recovering from alcoholism and substance abuse. ASH offers a full continuum of housing options, enriched with trained staff and a comprehensive referral network specializing in homelessness, substance abuse, mental health issues or other chronic conditions.
Many alumni live productive lives, support their families and serve as role models to others. “My goal is to influence a paradigm shift in the way that we address issues of substance abuse and alcoholism,” states Vazquez-Rowland.
